See You in the Playoffs, Oil Country

What a way to close it out.

The Oilers hammered the Canucks 6-1 Thursday night at Rogers Place and locked up the second seed in the Pacific. Home ice for the first round. That's what they were playing for and they got it in a big way.

Matt Savoie was the story of the night. First career hat trick, all three goals in the first period, all set up by McDavid. He's been building toward this for a while now and the timing couldn't be better.

"I think our mindset was that it was a playoff game, and we came in with that mentality right from the jump." — Matt Savoie

McDavid had four assists and officially won the Art Ross Trophy for the sixth time. 138 points on the season. 48 goals, 90 assists. Six Art Ross trophies. The guy is just different.

Zach Hyman was back after missing five games and didn't miss a beat. Got an assist and brought that net-front presence that makes life so much easier for everyone on that line.

Evan Bouchard had three more assists. RNH and Colton Dach each added goals in the second and third. Connor Ingram barely had to break a sweat with 11 saves.

Up next is the Anaheim Ducks in the first round. Game 1 is Monday at Rogers Place. Edmonton went 2-1 against Anaheim this season including a 7-4 win at home.

Leon Draisaitl is working to get back. Hyman is healthy. The team is playing their best hockey right now and the building is going to be rocking Monday night.

Playoffs are here. Let's go.
